Description:

Several of our ministry partners support children that are living at a disadvantage, and in need of compassion and care. You can make a difference in the life of a child by simply making a trip across town or by taking a trip out of the country. Go to our Missions page to see a list of our ministry partners. There are also many other ways to make an impact in the life of a child by providing compassion and care. Below are just a few suggestions in which you can contact any organizations directly to get involved. Remember…your options are limitless!

Consider serving at:
Good Neighbor House, Gospel Mission, St. Vincent de Paul, one bistro, Oasis House, Building Bridges, Agape for Youth, Special Wish Foundation, House of Bread, Red Cross, Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House, Hospice, Food Bank, Big Brother/Big Sister, Habitat for Humanity.

For addtional ways to serve children, consider the following:
Tutor, Coach, Scout Leader, Hospital Greeter, Offering Free Babysitting/Childcare, Foster Parent, Adoption, Mentor, Hospital Greeter or Visits, Donate Blood, Classroom Volunteer.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Dancer
Area of Interest: Kids
Spiritual Abilities: Adventurer, Recruiter, Welcomer
Description:

Lead the kids by performing scripted choreography and helping to sing the songs. Open to kids/teens age 10 and above.

Time Commitment: One weekend, as schedule permits, plus rehearsal.
Special Skills:

Enthusiastic attitude and an ability to dance. Audition required.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Host/Storyteller
Area of Interest: Kids

Description:

Use your "upfront skills" to help teach a group of elementary kids. Script provided.

Time Commitment: One weekend, as schedule permits, plus rehearsal.
Special Skills:

Creative acting skills. Audition required.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Mid-Week Resource
Area of Interest: Kids
Spiritual Abilities: Organizer, Helper, Welcomer
Description:

Assist with preparation of weekend lessons/supplies for all campuses in any of the following ways:

- Option 1: Restock curriculum supplies. Time commitment is 1-2 hours per week and restocking on Monday or Tuesday.

- Option 2: Set up curriculum supply kits for the weekend lessons. Time commitment is 2-3 hours per week with set up on Wednesday or Thursday.

Time Commitment: Varies (see above).
Special Skills:

Resourcefulness and creativity with materials. Organizational skills a plus.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Room Volunteer (Birth-5th Grade)

Description:

Care for, hang out, and have fun with our kids. Help kids feel welcome, interact with them, and help reinforce the lessons taught each week.

Time Commitment: 2 services per month or whatever works for you.

You pretty much have to like kids!

Volunteer Position: SBkids Special Needs Volunteer
Area of Interest: Kids
Spiritual Abilities: Adventurer, Mercy-Giver, Recruiter, Helper, Welcomer, Encourager, Healer
Description:

Gives one on one support by providing the individualized support needed for a special needs child to remain successful in a room with their same-age peers. We minister to all types of special needs children with diagnoses ranging from medical and behavioral, to physical disabilities and autism.
 
We strive to provide families the opportunity to attend church together while having peace of mind that their special needs child is being well cared for and loved. We work to create and support an environment that will show special needs children and their peers how to live and love like Jesus.

Time Commitment: On Sunday at the 9:30 service (up to four times per month).
Special Skills:

Love, understanding and patience for kids with special needs. Several of our current volunteers have a background in special needs, while others simply have a heart for special needs children. Regardless of your level of experience or availability, there is a place for you. To begin the process, complete the volunteer application or contact Britt Hood with any questions.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Technical Assistant

Description:

Coordinate audio/visual aspects of the weekend service.

Time Commitment: One weekend a month, as schedule permits.
Special Skills:

Familiarity with audio/visual equipment, but not required. Training provided.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Vocalist

Description:

Lead kids in worship as they sing and pray to God.

Time Commitment: One weekend a month, as schedule permits, plus rehearsal.
Special Skills:

Singing and presentation skills. Audition required.

Volunteer Position: SBkids Welcome Counter
Area of Interest: Kids
Spiritual Abilities: Strategizer, Organizer, Recruiter, Helper, Welcomer
Description:

Escort guests through check-in process, manage computer registration, and manage attendance tracking.

Time Commitment: One service per month. The 5:30 service needs the most help.
Special Skills:

Welcoming and enthusiastic to visitors. Administrative gifts.
