Our goal is to match a role with your abilities and talents. If you take pride in accomplishing a task and prefer serving behind-the-scenes, this may be the role for you.

Our mission is to personally support people who have cancer by sending cards of hope and encouragement.

You'll commit to sending a 3-4 cards a week (12 a month). From a weekly list provided, select recipients and email the Team Leader a list of names in which you sent cards. Choose from the supply of boxed cards provided by Cancer Hope, purchase cards, or even make your own!

Volunteer Position: Cancer Hope Creations for Christ

Description:

Our mission is to personally support people who have cancer by providing gifts of love, hope, and encouragement.

You'll create handmade items for Cancer Hope survivors. There is no timeline; simply create at your own pace and turn in to the Team Leader once completed. Although optional with no obligation to attend, we meet monthly at SouthBrook to fellowship and create together. A supply of yarn, crochet hooks and knitting needles are available at the church.

The team meets from 2:30-5 p.m. on these dates: Oct. 24, Jan. 23, Feb. 27, Mar. 26, Apr. 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, and Oct. 22.

Time Commitment: Flexible.
Special Skills:

Open to anyone who knits, sews or crochets or who is interested in learning!

Our mission is to personally support people who have cancer through intercessory prayer.

As a Prayer Partner, you are assigned a survivor to support with daily prayer and weekly or bi-weekly cards. This one on one relationship allows you to pray in-depth for your partner’s needs. Periodically, you will be provided with prayer requests and updates from all Cancer Hope survivors, in which you can add to your prayers.

Description:

Our mission is to personally support people who have cancer through text messages of hope and encouragement.

On the Texting Team, you are asked to send a minimum of 12 text messages a week to the Cancer Hope survivors who have specifically requested support in this way. You may also be a Prayer Partner, where you will pray daily and send weekly or bi-weekly cards to a particular survivor.

Every weekend is someone's first visit to SouthBrook. 

Our Guest Services team has the unique privilege of creating a positive experience for every guest. We believe smiles change lives and each little act of service creates that all-important welcome that brings people back. You'll provide the hospitality for our guests: assisting with pre-service prep or post-service closing duties, greeting guests, seating, offering, keeping our facilities company-ready, or maintaining refreshments. If you love people you'll love Guest Services. 

Our volunteers can expect to have fun, share community with a team, and play a significant role in providing a remarkable guest experience as we intersect with people's stories. 

Teams work a 3-month on / 3-month off rotation. If unavailable some weekends, or if the 3-month rotation is not ideal, we will work around your schedule as needed. 2-3 hours per weekend.

Volunteer Position: Lay Counselor

Description:

Engage in training with our Marriage & Counseling Pastor in order to mentor others who are struggling and in need of healing.

You will engage with one-hour private sessions, guiding and assisting as people navigate tough issues. Training will certify you in two levels. Level 1 focuses on general individual help such as: identity in Christ, forgiveness, boundaries. Level 2 focuses on marriage issues such as: communication, conflict resolution, avoiding intimacy barriers. Level 1 is a pre-requisite for Level 2. However, you can be certified in Level 1 without Level 2.

Gives one on one support by providing the individualized support needed for a special needs child to remain successful in a room with their same-age peers. We minister to all types of special needs children with diagnoses ranging from medical and behavioral, to physical disabilities and autism.
 
We strive to provide families the opportunity to attend church together while having peace of mind that their special needs child is being well cared for and loved. We work to create and support an environment that will show special needs children and their peers how to live and love like Jesus.

Time Commitment: On Sunday at the 9:30 service (up to four times per month).
Special Skills:

Love, understanding and patience for kids with special needs. Several of our current volunteers have a background in special needs, while others simply have a heart for special needs children. Volunteer Position: Stage Manager

Description:

Help challenge, resource and lead the adult weekend experience by managing everyone and everything that enters and exits the Main Theater stage. 

Time Commitment: Approximately once monthly for the 3 weekend services.

Volunteer Position: Traffic Team

Description:

This team makes the first impression a pleasant one for our guests by helping to make parking a hassle-free experience. On this team, you will help guests enter and exit the parking lot, and find parking spaces. It's open to men and women, age 21 and over.

Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling: 2 hours per month.

Volunteer Position: Video Switcher

Description:

Help challenge, resource and lead the adult weekend experience by switching video with a balance between IMAG and film techniques.

Time Commitment: One weekend every 4 weeks for all weekend services.
Special Skills:

Camera or live video environment experience. Additional training provided.

Volunteer Position: Weekend Prayer Servant
Area of Interest: Compassion and Care
Spiritual Abilities: Helper, Intercessor
Description:

For those with a passion to pray, this is an opportunity to cover every aspect of our weekend services with prayer including all of the volunteers, staff, leaders and attendees. After services, you will be in Prayer Room for 10-15 minutes to answer questions and pray with others as needed.

Time Commitment: About 1 service per month.
Special Skills:

A heart to pray.

Volunteer Position: Women's Hospitality Coordinator

Assist in coordinating refreshments for Women's Bible Study on Thursday evenings by creating a warm and inviting environment that helps build relationships.

Time Commitment: Thursdays from 6-8:30 p.m. during Fall, Winter and Spring Bible Studies.
