Six-Second Kiss

This morning, Patte and I were sitting in our shoulder to shoulder chairs, separated only by a small table holding our morning coffees. We were using the mugs Randy and Sue Ann Creamer gave us. My mug reads, "Every positive thing you do in your relationship is foreplay." Patte's reads, "Have you had a 6-second kiss today?"

Before either of us had taken a sip of our coffee, Patte looks at me and asks, "6-second kiss?" By my response, obviously the answer was "Yes!" Still seated in our chairs we both leaned toward each other. As our kiss was ending, I noticed Patte's chair was decidedly tilting toward me. In a blink of an eye, Patte and her chair were on the floor, with Patte's full cup of coffee now spilled on the carpet. After our initial shock, Patte sprang into action and 15 minutes later the carpet looks no worse for the wear.

But, my favorite part is this. As Patte was finishing cleaning up the mess, she looked up at me and said, "You still have that effect on me!" Thirty-eight years and counting. Love that woman! —Mike Murry
